Member Stories: Miranda Ow
I will be forever grateful to the Engineers and Architects Association for assisting me in my response to a Notice to Correct Deficiencies (NTCD) that I received. While the NTCD had merit, its wording distorted the situation and included information that was not relevant. I brought the NTCD to the attention of EAA and explained the underlying circumstances and my concerns.
An EAA representative pointed out my options and explained the grievance process to me. Based on the representative’s advice I chose to pursue a grievance. EAA represented me at the informal discussion with my immediate supervisor that failed to resolve the issues. EAA then filed a formal grievance on my behalf. EAA skillfully represented me at the first level of the formal review with my manager. Because of EAA’s presentation my manager agreed to delete portions of the NTCD and to change the wording on other portions. The end result was the NTCD ended up being an accurate reflection of what occurred and I was happy with the rewritten NTCD.
