Labor Representative Darryl Cherness
Darryl Cherness resides in Culver City with his wife, Amy, and their thirteen year old daughter, Isabell. A life-long resident, he has had roots in Culver City since 1953 and is a product of the Culver City Unified School District. Darryl graduated from Culver City High School; attended West Los Angeles College; earned his Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from Cal State University of San Diego State; and later received his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
Darryl spent eleven years working for the City of Los Angeles, first as a Buyer with the General Services Department and later as a Management Analyst with the Community Development Department (CDD). In 2000, he went to work as a Labor Representative with the Engineers & Architects Association where he remained dutifully until December of 2009.
Darryl currently serves as Vice-Chair with the Culver City Civil Service Commission, where he currently serves as Chair of the Commission. In May of 2017, Darryl returned to the Engineers & Architects Association as a Labor Representative where he has served dutifully since.
During his tenure as a Labor Representative, Darry has been instrumental in getting NTCD’s removed from member’s personal files; reducing suspensions; dissuading management from terminating an employee; and in several instances, reinstating employees, with back benefits, who were incriminated.
Darryl looks forward to working with his friends, old and new, as well as serving the members of the Engineers & Architects Association.
