Highlights: Movies in the Park Series 2017
Recently re-elected City Council President Herb J. Wesson. Jr. kicked off his annual Movies in the Park Series for the eleventh year running at Reynier Park in City District 10 last Friday. Yet again, Team Wesson’s preparation made for easy-goings as the proceedings not only started on time but no one was left empty-handed. Cinemark was on hand with bags and bags of popcorn and Team EAA was there to dole out the sweets to the tots as well.
Take a second to acknowledge the commitments from the following volunteers:
- Jack Kayajian (MOU1 Unit Council Member & Union Steward) and his wife Arus.
- Amelia Hernandez (Union Steward)
- Darryl Cherness (EAA Labor Representative) along with his wife & daughter, Emily and Isabelle.
- Brenna Green (EAA Staff)
I experimented with live-casting Herb Wesson’s interactions with the crowd, which is always entertaining. City Council President Wesson is undoubtedly one of local politic’s most charismatic figures. He even brought his grand kids up to help with the raffle (see photo coverage below). The live cast didn’t work out via Twitter so I used Instagram to broadcast instead. Unfortunately with live broadcasting, the footage stays viewable through Instagram for a few hours of its initial publishing. There is no tracking back to watch it. If you are on Instagram, follow @EAAUnion on Instagram to catch the next live feed.
The next screening EAA will be co-sponsoring takes place on August 11th at Benny Potter Park and the feature will be “Puss in Boots”. Check back with the EAA Calendar for reminders. And now here a few photo highlights from the screening of “The Road to El Dorado”.
