Steven E. Belhumeur
Steven E. Belhumeur, a longtime labor and political strategist, is the Executive Director of the Engineers & Architects Association, Unit 1894 of IBEW Local 11. Belhumeur was born into an activist family which valued community organizing and the power of voting. At the University of Oregon, Belhumeur was recruited by the AFL-CIO to join the Organizing Institute, beginning a 20-year career in the labor movement.
Belhumeur has previously served as a lead organizer, business agent, delegate, political director, and organizer for many Los Angeles bargaining units. He spent several years in City Hall as an Area Planning Commissioner, District Director, and as the Community Affairs Advocate for the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation. These positions give Belhumeur the distinction of having union membership in three City labor organizations.
For the last 14 years, Belhumeur has worked as a political strategist for over 100 successful electoral campaigns, registered over 200,000 new voters, and collected nearly 500,000 qualifying petition signatures for state and local ballot measures.
