EAA Holiday Party Recap

Assembly of AssemblymanICYMI (In case you missed it): Bread was broken; laughs were had; prizes were awarded; and announcements were made. The annual EAA Holiday Party was a complete success.

The Sheraton Downtown staff did an amazing job accommodating the 650 plus in attendance, which included such dignitaries as 64th District Assemblyman Mike A. Gipson, 70th District Assemblyman Patrick O’Donnell, 53rd District Assemblyman Miguel SantiagoMayor Eric Garcetti’s Chief of Staff Ana Guerrero, and Deputy Mayor, Matt Szabo. Did You Know: All the proceeds from the sold out event went straight to charity. Each ticket gave the attendee the option of choosing which of five local nonprofit organizations would receive their donation. Saturday’s tally is as follows (updated as of 4:18p, January 20th):

The Big Announcement: Executive Director Gregory West made a major announcement last Saturday. Although details are still forthcoming, we did learn the outcome of the much anticipated contract negotiations with the City of Los Angeles and the words “no concessions” reverberated throughout the ballroom. Stay tuned to our social media feeds when official word is released.

And then there was a matter of the raffle… Between the charitable contributions to local non-profits, the complimentary Starbucks gift cards underneath each and every seat, and the labor contract news, it’s safe to say everybody was a winner on Saturday. There were, however, a few big winners, who took home some pretty awesome prizes ranging from an Apple Watch to a hoverboard to a 50 inch Samsung Smart Tv and racks of $150 Amazon gift cards.
