Debrief: Movies in the Park 2018 (CD10)

For the twelfth year running, City Council President Herb Wesson Jr. hosted his wildly popular Movies in the Park series in Council District 10. This year, EAA Outreach chipped in as well as lended a hand to the efforts of two of the events. In case you missed the listings on the EAA Calendar, one screening was held at Queen Anne Recreation Center and another at Westside Neighborhood Park the following week. Both screenings drew locals by the hundreds as Team EAA was there to hand out sweets and treats to the tots in attendance.

Yet again, Team Wesson put together a solid event. Everything ran on schedule and there was enough hot dogs, Icees, refreshments, and candy for everybody in attendance. Team EAA certainly played its part in helping make these Movies in the Park outings a success but The Nielsen Company deserves just as much of the praise. They provided the popcorn along with staffers and likely assisted with procuring the films being screened which were “Ferdinand” the first Friday, and both “The Lion King” and “Coco” the following Friday.

Members of the Los Angeles Fire Department were also on board to help with the heavier of the assorted raffle prizes, which ranged from bicycles to family fun packages to 40 inch smart televisions. Whether you were working the event or simply there to join in on the festivities, Herb Wesson’s Movies in the Park series 2018 was fun for all and a great send off to summer for the kids returning to school the following week. If you did not make it out this year, no worries, there is always next summer. After all, this was the 12th year running of the Movies in the Park series. Judging by this year’s success, there is bound to be another.
