Los Angeles (March 8) — The Engineers and Architects Association, the oldest union in Los Angeles founded in 1894, has endorsed Antonio Sanchez for State Assembly, 39th District.

Sanchez hopes to represent the communities of Arleta, Lake View Terrace, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Pacoima, Sun Valley, Sunland-Tujunga, and Sylmar.

EAA counts 340 of its active members live in this district, and expects to be mailing, phoning, and knocking on doors to ensure voter turnout on Sanchez’s behalf.

“Our 5,100 members are more and more becoming politically active in the races we support,” said EAA Executive Director Bill Violante, a former LA Deputy Mayor, “Antonio is one of us, a strong union supporter, a family man, and one, who cares deeply about his Valley neighborhoods.”

The EAA Board of Governors voted unanimously to endorse the 35-year old Sanchez, who is the Workforce Development Director for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 11 and was an East Valley Director in the Villaraigosa administration, handling constituent services for the area.

Stated EAA Board President Gonzalo Barriga, “We are looking to endorse more candidates, who represent the new generation of public servants, and Antonio Sanchez fits like a glove with our commitment to supporting candidates, who will serve the district energetically, ethically, and with integrity.”

EAA members regularly participate in Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) activities of the candidates they endorses, joining in voter identification efforts, phone banking and visibility campaign efforts.
