Your newly elected Board of Governors took office on March 15, 2012. Immediately Governors started delivering on their PROMISE and COMMITMENT to GOOD GOVERNANCE.
 
EAA Members will continue to be informed about EVERY ACTION Governors take. Information about these actions can be found on the EAA Website, E-Mails like this one and heard in Membership meetings throughout the city.
 
The previous Board of Governors routinely touted “Transparency” as their hallmark.
 
Once assuming office your new Board of Governors called for a Internal audit of 2011/2012 Board actions and expenditures and below are some things EAA MEMBERS DID NOT KNOW:
 
YEAR 2011:

• Board of Governors overshot its budgeted expenditures for legal fees by $150,000 (150% of the budgeted amount)

• Board of Governors authorized payments to themselves for hours worked based upon their City hourly pay  (in addition to the standard Board meeting stipends).  One of those Board members helped himself to over $17,400 of YOUR DUES MONEY in 2011 over a period of nine months.

• Board of Governors adopted a FY 2011/2012 Budget allocating $25,000 of your EAA membership dues to be paid to themselves for “EAA-Related Work”.

Were YOU aware that in 2012:

• In one of the FINAL ACTS before leaving office on March 8, 2012, the previous Board of Governors approved and executed a generous multiple year contract for the Administrative Officer, with a retroactive start date of February 1, 2012? 

 
Your New Board of Governors are committed to genuine transparency and putting Members First.  You will be able to see the difference, each month that we are in office.

• Will you get a better “deal” through Impasse?  [And make no mistake; rejection of this TA will lead directly to Impasse.]

• What further sacrifices will be imposed on you while you wait for the Impasse procedure to play out?   FYI: The City’s cost-savings target from EAA members for FY 2012/2013 is $23 million.

• Do you truly believe that the City won’t seek to extract that savings from you while Impasse proceeds?

 
This is why we recommend a YES VOTE to avoid the worst outcomes and to lock in some genuine gains which are only available NOW.

• Aggregate 4% COLA
• Elimination of the retiree health subsidy freeze
• Improvements for nearly two dozen class titles across the four MOU’s
• Security of being back under contract [with no re-opener clause ] through to 07/01/13.
