As we approach the end of the 2011/12 fiscal year EAA would like to remind you of the 04/16/12 correspondence sent from Miguel Santana, City Administrative Officer to All LA City General Managers except Department of Water and Power as it relates to MOU 1, 19, 20 and 21 Furlough Days. For those subject to 208 furlough hours during FY 11 /12, the hours need to be completed by June 30, 2012 [NOT June 16th, which was the previous requirement].  By this same memo, the CAO eliminated the requirement that furlough time only be taken in one to two hour increments.

From: Miguel A. Santana, City Administrative Officer

Subject: FURLOUGH HOURS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2011/12 FOR EMPLOYEES
REPRESENTED BY THE ENGINEERS & ARCHITECTS ASSCCIATICN
(Mous 1, 19, 20 and 21)

The purpose of this correspondence is to clarify that employees represented by the Engineers and Architects Association (EAA) are required to take a total of 208 furlough hours during Fiscal Year 2011/12. The deadline for completion of these hours is hereby officially extended to June 30, 2012. ln addition, the prohibition against  furloughs is being lifted in order to facilitate the completion of all furlough hours by the end of the fiscal year. General Managers retain the right to schedule furloughs in less than full day increments, but are authorized to approve full-day furloughs if it is operationally feasible to do so.

Each department is responsible for ensuring that affected employees complete the 208hour requirement by June 30, 2012. It is therefore imperative that supervisors and managers monitor the furlough hours taken to date and ensure that the remaining hours are scheduled in a timely manner. If there are any questions regarding this issue, department personnel sections may Contact Errol Griffin at (213) 978-7633 or at Erroi.Griffin@Iacity.org.

Individual employees should be encouraged to contact their personnel sections rather than contacting this office directly.
