Melissa Popovic was elected to the EAA Board of Governors in February, 2012 as Governor – at – Large representing MOU's 1, 19, 20 and 21.
Employed by the City of Los Angeles for over twenty-eight years, Governor Popovic started her public service in the Los Angeles City Library as a Messenger Clerk, later transitioning into a part-time Clerk Typist. In the early 1990’s Governor Popovic promoted to the City of Los Angeles Police Department, where she later promoted to Fingerprint Identification Expert and then to Forensic Print Specialist.
In 2008, Governor Popovic promoted to Senior Forensic Print Specialist (MOU 19) and began her work in the Scientific Investigation Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Governor Popovic began her service as a EAA Union Steward in 2005, advocating for EAA members. Dedicated to returning integrity, accountability and transparency to EAA Board of Governors and to your union, Governor Popovic decided to run for the EAA Board of Governors in the Fall of 2011.
After being elected by members from all four bargaining units, Governor Popovic was then elected by her Board colleagues to serve as President of the Board of Governors during 2012.
